PSL 7: Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs

 Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs in the 9th match of the 7th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).




In pursuit of Lahore Qalandars' target of 200 runs, Peshawar Zalmi's team scored 170 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Haider Ali remained prominent by scoring 49 runs.


In the match played at the National Stadium in Karachi, Zalmai's captain Wahab Riaz won the toss and invited Lahore Qalandars to bat first.


Lahore Qalandars scored 199 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Fakhr Zaman remained prominent by scoring 66 runs.

Lahore's innings got off to a great start with an excellent 94-run partnership between opener Fakhr Zaman and Abdullah Shafiq, but Abdullah was dismissed for 41.



Qalandars had to bear the second loss in the form of setter Fakhr Zaman, he returned to the pavilion with 66 runs while Kamran Ghulam scored 30 runs.


Thanks to the aggressive batting of Muhammad Hafeez and Rashid Khan in the final overs, Lahore scored 199 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.


Hafeez scored 37 off 19 balls while Rashid Khan remained unbeaten on 22 off 8 balls.


Salman Irshad took two wickets for Peshawar Zalmai while Usman Qadir and Hussain Talat took one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Zalmai did not have a good start and opener Hazratullah Zazai was dismissed for zero.


However, a 62-run partnership was formed between Kamran Akmal and Hussain Talat but they too could not bring the match closer. Hussain Talat returned to the pavilion with 15 runs while Kamran scored 41 runs.


Zalmai had to bear the fourth loss in the form of veteran better Shoaib Malik, he left the team with only 4 runs.


However, Haider Ali resisted in the final overs but he too could not give victory to his team. He played an innings of 49 runs.
