Demonstrations in Kazakh: Government seeks help from Russia

 The situation in Kazakhstan has spiraled out of control due to the ongoing violent protests against the rise in oil prices, which the President sought Russia's help in overcoming.

Under which Russian-led troops will be deployed to help "stabilize" the country.



According to the BBC, Kazakhstan's President Qasim Jomart Tokayev has called on the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to cooperate in escalating the unrest.



The protests in Kazakhstan were initially triggered by rising fuel prices, but have expanded to include political grievances.

             


President Qasim Jomart Tokayev has accused foreign-trained "terrorist groups" of spreading unrest.


Reacting strongly to the protests, Kazakhstan's president declared a state of emergency, including a curfew and a ban on large-scale gatherings.


In a televised address, the Kazakh president called on the CS2 (military alliance of Russia and five other former Soviet states) to help stabilize the situation.


It should be noted that the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Maman resigned from his post yesterday due to the increase in fuel prices in the country.


 Kazakhstan's President Qasim Jomarat on Wednesday accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Askar Maman and appointed Deputy Prime Minister Ali Khan Ismayilov as acting prime minister.

                     

It should be noted that the unusual demonstrations against the increase in fuel prices in Kazakhstan began on the 3rd in the town of Main Qeshlaq, Jana Ozan, which has spread to other parts of the country.

The situation in Almaty worsened after protests over rising LPG prices and petrol.
