A man accused of offering Muslim
women for auction in India has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh
The
'Sulli Deals' App Launched in India last year, it has put Muslim women up for
online auction all images and videos obtained for this application were created
or stolen without permission.
He
is the first suspect to be arrested in the case, while raids are being carried
out for others. The accused, Aumkareshwar Thakur,
was apprehended by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of
Delhi Police in Madhya Pradesh's Indore.
In January 2020, Thackeray joined a group
called the Commercial Assembly using the Twitter handle Gangashan. Police said
members of the group often discussed how to troll Muslim women. Following the
creation of an application called 'Sulli Deals', members of the Twitter group
allegedly uploaded photos of several Muslim women, including prominent figures.
Thackeray had deleted all his social media
accounts after the app made headlines recently. Police are questioning him and
examining the gadgets found. Police identified and arrested Thackeray on the
basis of information obtained during interrogation of Neeraj Bishnoi, creator
of the 'Billi Bai' app. Apart from Bishnui, three other accused have also been
arrested in the Billiby app case.
