Inflation in the country has reached the highest level of the year.
The inflation rate has risen to 11.3% from 9% in October and more than 8% in November 2020. Inflation in urban areas is 14% and rural areas was 9% percent. According to the Consumer Price Index of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, food inflation rise up to 11.3% in urban areas and 8% in rural areas.
Prices of tomatoes, ghee, cooking oil, rice, fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, milk, sugar, fish, medicines and construction materials became more expensive.
According to the Wholesale Price Index, inflation rose to 27%. According to the Consumer Price Index, tomatoes became 131.64% more expensive in November, ghee 10.87%, edible oil 9.71%, vegetables 110.46%, eggs 10.19% and meat 2.63%. Mustard seeds 56.96 per cent, edible oil 53.59 per cent, lentils 22.38 per cent, fruits 21.67 per cent, meat 20.2 per cent, flour 19 per cent, lentils 14.69 per cent, milk 11.71 per cent, vegetables 10.97 per cent, butter 10.83 per cent and wheat 10.26 per cent. Electricity 47.87%, motor fuel 40.81%, laundry 21.17%, footwear 16.20%, washing soup, detergent and Match prices rose by 14.41 per cent, motor accessories by 13.99 per cent and medicines by 11.76 per cent, while onions fell by 37.68 per cent, pulses by 27 per cent and potatoes by 17.66 per cent.
